NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It was my one last hope of seeing my US camping family this year!. Wait... I, for one, am going to hold onto the last glimmer of hope: Am I being naive? Probably.
OK I am now ready to take full responsibility! It was my fault for buying a brand new camper I admit it and I'm Sorry!
This whole closing for the season is a bunch of crap. I am with Pat, I am holding out hope that they come to their senses after this ends, and open back up later.
Holding onto hope like grim death. They HAVE to lift this travel ban/closing stuff before OCTOBER! (secretly hoping they do).
It's a wait and see... They are not taking new reservations. If you already made reservations, they suggest holding them in case they open. They will issue refunds without service charges if they do not open. If you cancel now, there will be a charge. I do not have high hopes for our inaugural Mid May trip
Yes I had sooooo many trips scheduled for this year, starting in the end of April. Hoping we can salvage some of those later ones. On another topic Chris, how does it feel to be essential? Seriously, thank you for your work on the front lines. Please be safe and well.
I was honestly thinking it was me. I just got my hybrid in August and have barely been out with it. Haven’t even braved the whole black tank usage thing yet. Thanks for taking the blame and pressure off me!
I think we all have to keep an eye on everything across the board NewYork, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Vermont and if anything changes make sure to let everyone know! We are not the only campers out there (although probably the coolest) and when things start to open up there will probably be a mad rush to get out there.
I was thinking that same thing. I may be difficult to get our normal spots once they open things back up. Lets hope not.
I'm not cancelling anything. I'm standing pat on all of them until THEY cancel them. I'm really ticked off about Schodack. My arrival day falls on the last day of their projected closure, so I lose the whole trip!?
Yeah, I don't quite understand that either. I am in the same situation. Why didn't they give us the option to move our arrival date one day, and keep the reservation?
They likely just ran a search for the time frame affected by the closures for all of the parks affected—in NY and the other states serviced by ReserveAmerica.
VP Pence announced that the CDC is publishing recommendations re the use of the Natural Parks (is he talking about the National Parks?). He said these guidelines will be sharing this with the State Parks and the government is asking for their support. Maybe the state parks will reopen?
It likely won't do us any good Pat. Here in PA, the parks are still open, just not camping or organized events. They are having a problem with people gathering in groups, so the rangers are breaking up the groups. They may re-open camping, but we will have to yell to each site in order to talk to each other. Definitely no group campfires.
