I would be very open to a spring rally at hocking hills. Hocking hill is the true gem of the ohio state parks. The trails are exceptional. I believe it is the most visited ohio park. I would plan on may.

Too far for me and the kido in may. School and all. I got reprimanded for the disney trip this year, lol. They atually made me sign a sheet stating that my kid missed such and such days of school and that the next instance will have me refred to child protective services. It was like 5 half days of 2nd grade that they watched movies on. I asked for home work before and after, the teacher said they were half days and we did no work. So I'm on super secret probation. Have fun!

Absolutely. My son and his family have moved to Dayton and I've been investigating camping in southern ohio.

i went to Hocking Hills about 4 years ago although the park fills up fast and advanced reservations are needed. The hiking trails were great. I ended up going during a massive storm that caused it to rain for three and half days straight. My poor dogs were drowned rats and not too pleased with me, but we had a great time hiking. I didn’t meet up with too many people on the trails during the rain, but there were still a surprising number out there. I could only imagine how crazy it would be on a beautiful day. It would be nice to visit again hopefully when it isn’t so wet and sloppy. However for the distance involved a lot depends on finances at the time for me.

I agree with the others with school age kids the timing does make it extremely difficult to travel any distance . My coworker found out the hard way what happens if you take kids out of school for too long. She too, got in so many words, written up and threatened with court and child protection services. Didn’t help her kid also missed four days of school for being sick on top of the 5 vacation days they took.

We are headed to hocking hills early may. Since the rally 4-5 years ago the park added some full hookup sites. I well scope out the sites when we are there and make recommendations.

I just looked it up. Wow! What a beautiful park!
It’s about a 12 hour drive and a border crossing for me; but I’d certainly consider it, if it doesn't conflict with my other Portal and Aliner rallies for next year. Following this thread....

We get to hocking hills almost every camping and maybe 2 times to hike. It is an exceptional park for hicking and geological formations.

Let me know anything I can do to make it a get together
next trip out ,
Scope out what’s the best loop for the rally. I been there before but can’t remember what loop we were in? I do recall. Sites on One side of the road was alittle better slope wise then the other.

Where we were 4 - 5 years ago, is now the full hookup sites. I believe all CS at HH are pet friendly. My original thoughts is to look at the campsites where there is a transition between full hookup and just electric, and second option is look for a nice loop for the group that would be electric only loop. I believe all CS at HH are dog friendly.

Hard to find level sites at hh. The campground is built on a ridge top of some steep hills. I have always used more blocks than normal to level my camper at HH. I don't go to HH for the CS or CG, I consider average. It's the hiking that keeps me going back at least once a year and keeps the park booked. HH has exceptional hiking with lots of geological formations and waterfalls. It is Ohio's gem.

Thanks Art, All I recall is that sites where somewhat not level. Bring your extra lynx blocks. And being in a circled loop at the rally several years ago, wow hard to beleive. It was 5 already, bro and the cake lady did a great job hosting, Hope they still are camping, it would be great if they could join us again. Since they made those sites full hookup, maybe they straightened them out alittle? What they could , And updated the bath house as I recall was pretty primitive. I would be fine with/without full hookup , But like you said. I like your suggestion on a transition. Of both full and electric only. This would give us a variety of camping needs. I bet the full sites go fast though , so if interested we have to be quick. Come open ressie window. In November. Six months out . But like you said, the hiking and falls sells the place! Last time I went there I was solo, I want my wife to experience it with me again , Still trying to figure out this new Ohio reservation map , maybe I’m just not used to it. But find it harder to navigate then the old system

I use to believe it was not worth the extra bucks for full hookups. But for a few days its well worth it to be able to dump at the site and not wait in line at the dump station.

A). The new Ohio reservation system absolutely SUCKS

B) Paul and Diane have cut their coping back a bit but they are still getting out a few times a year. They are supposed to be meeting up with us in May at East Harbor SP for the "farewell tour", but with the current state of the state and country who knows how that will go. They are also slated to go to the Holly rally as well.
