Coffee filter is overly fine and to small for multiple gallons, tends fall into bucket and takes two people to operate. We have ordered the 25 micron bucket filter and will report on it when it goes into use.

Get two buckets: one to carry the water from the lake and one to store it in. Add a couple drops of chlorine to the storage bucket and use the filter from your first post to remove the "Big Chunks". Leave the storage bucket in the sun with the filter in place. The sun / heat will evaporate the chlorine and warm the water. The filter on the storage bucket will keep the leaves & bugs out. My wife & I just heat a metal bucket full of water and use it for washing up in the p-up sink.

We got back late this afternoon and used this filter to get multiple buckets of water from the lake to shower with. It was hot there! I was kind of worried this 25 micron filter would plug up with lake debris, but its didn't. We'll "back wash" it with clean water while at home. This bucket filter worked better than expected. Its a keeper. Made lake water showering much easier to do. P1050503.jpg P1050509.jpg

Panty hose make excellent filters for thin liquids. It will even work on latex paint if paint is thinned slightly with water

Looks great and love the setup. Glad you found something that will do what you need it to do.
