I just got a 1982 BA-1050 from my grandfather. This thing is in excelent condition, but while cranking it up the other day, the drivers front decided it did not want to stay up anymore. snapped cable right? thats what i thought until i went out today and cranked the thing up about half way so i could check things out and the cables and pulleys seem great. none broke or frayed. cranked it up the rest of the way and all seems ok. so, my question is, what happend? thanks

I don't know if this will make sense or not on our Bonair if you crank it down too much the cables go slack. If it went to slack there is a possiblity that one of the cables came off the pully. You cranked it down again and the cable righted itself and alls OK. When cranking down we stop just as the top gets close to the box. Then we latch it and give it a half crank up. Hope this helps. PS. Check out the Bonair link on the left hand side of the opening page.
