On the 15th of May a hero who was 90 passed away. No fanfare, no internet announcements or profile on the evening news but rather my father was a hero to only the 6 of us children. He was the quintessential outdoors man; hunting, fishing, trapping and even lived on a mountain in central PA with only the water company and game commission as his neighbors on 3 sides. He would tell us children that when our mother wanted to drag him to church he would often disappear out into the forest in our back yard saying; "This is where God is, right here, in Mother Earth." He loved the outdoors and everything about nature. When my oldest DD got us into camping he was thrilled and finally approved of something that one us children actually did right.

A coalminer by trade and a farmer by necessity he raised 4 DS & 2 DDs who are all doing well. He lost the love of his life 16 years ago this past November and often wanted to join her but he knew God had a plan. So at 90 after spending the day at the casino he passed away on his front porch compliments of an aneurism that finally burst for the last time....he will be missed.

The world may not know they lost a hero, but the 6 of us, his 15 grandchildren and his 7 great grandchildren will always remember him.

Belated sympathies on the passing our your father. Our dad's have an impact on our lives forever. My dad passed away 38 yrs ago, and DH's dad passed away 28 yrs ago. But we think of them every day and have so many cherished memories.
