ABS removed, foam core, next step

Hey People,
ABS is removed.


Deciding what to use and not looking to break the bank, Grizzly grip and flex seal for 3 gallons is not in my price range.
Does anyone have any experience with the following product:
AMES MSS1 Maximum Stretch Roof Coating, 1 Gallon, White
From what I read this you can not use because it is acrylic and not silicone base. Is that true?


I know SJM9911 says use bed liner.
Can you post a specific one all I am finding is black bed liners?

Not quite sure what you're asking, I am having a brain fart. What is the current surface? It looks like fiberglass. I would prime and then coat it, don't cheap out on your roof coating, I know it seems like a place to cut come corners, but trust me, don't do it. You could use THIS if you don't want to prime it.

The gg was about 200 when I last bought it. Probably way more now. Bondo the rough spots. I called the compony and just bought the paint needed. Not the other stuff to applie it. I would go with what people said works, if you use something else and it dosen't hold up you may not get a second chance to coat it.

Grizzle Grip. The surface has fiberglass in it. Some dont, yours does.

I called them and asked how much I needed. I had a quart left over or there abouts. Did 2 coats.

That surface looks like fiberglass resin to me, but I've been wrong before.

Fiberglass resien is what? Could be . You mean from the top being on it? Others, including myself have found fibers in it when sanding. But I really dont know the diffrence. The other abs roof has nothing like that on top, all foam.

Yeah I am fairly confident mine is all foam with some type of strands in it. I have worked with fiberglass many times and this definitely is not that. A big chunk came off on one of the corners and it was all foam.
This sucks I do not want to spend $300 on this thing.

I think at this point I am going to use the one Keizer trailer recommended. That's about as much as I want to put into it.

The fiberglass is a thin coat on the top, the rest is foam. Probably to reinforce the roof after the first generation of them sagged.

I used TRex bed liner. I think it’s similar to Grizzly Grip but less expensive.

Grizzly Grip has white. Still going good after 10years. Make sure you order the special rollers they sell to get out the bubbles. The chemical is pretty brutal so you need to apply outside and in the shade. My 1996 Bayport deosn't have a fiberglass layer (just close cell styrofoam). If it was me I would coat the whole roof with fiberglass cloth and boat resin before the grizzly grip, but that will be even more money. Having said that, a new trailer is 25k, so it's not "that" expensive.

I used UPOL Raptor bedliner in white..Worked great.I sprayed it on.It can be rolled as well.

Grizzly grip & T Rex have white versions. I used the T Rex after the ABS tear off. 95% of the success is in the surface preparation. After dealing with cracks each camping season I decided i had enough patching.
