air conditioner cover for aliner

    I just replaced the air conditioner with a new one - second time since 2012. But the LG LW5016 replacement is a little longer, and the old cover won't fit. Any ideas for finding a cover?

    I ordered two from Aliner and both are too short.
    In the morning, I’ll take a picture of a cheap solution that works.

    This temporary, but now permanent fix works great. Didn’t move after a 9 hour interstate drive. Paracord and a wooden rod. If the wooden rod moves backwards, it will stop before the paracord disconnects in the front.

    I thought I read an article about making the air cond removable on Aliners. If your sticks out by the door as some I have seen thats what I would do. But I am not an Aliner expert. Just was thinking about getting one ....once.

    The OEM cover is a piece of junk. It shrank and rot under the sun. I sewed one myself using Sunbella fabric bought on ebay. Expect it last longer than the trailer.

    What did you use to replace the narrow metal rod that slides through the slot above the a/c unit? I was thinking the Sunbrella fabric would work great but my sewing machine won't stitch through that vinyl.

    This is so clever! I had to replace the OEM AC unit when it died and the replacement unit is a different size, so the old AC cover won't work. I will get Sunbrella fabric as suggested and try to use your strategy with the wooden rod. I wish I could see a little more detail on how the cord is attached to the rod (and I would love to see the bottom two corners of the cover. Any chance of a few close-up photos so I can duplicate your genius-ness? : - )

    I just use slip knots to tie each cord around the wood. NOTE: I would highly recommend that you put a lacquer or some paint on the rod.
