    G’day Everybody- Merry Christmas

we are Norma and Peter of Seaford , Victoria , Australia and our companion is Puff our pug

presently we have a sprinter camper and although it has all the bells and whistles we do not enjoy her mainly because the bed is too difficult for us to negotiate

we previously had caravans but after thirty years really thought a motor home would answer our dreams - but no

getting the motor home ready for sale and can only imagine the loss we will make - only driven 6000 kilometres

our plan is to escape for a few days each month between medical appointments - mainly to our daughters block in the country and caravan parks in the Gippsland area which is to our south so we avoid needing to pass through Melbournes heavy traffic

I like the idea of buying a Cruiseliner 5 because of the two beds and the appearance of more space

Would really like the opinions of those with this model Aliner but all your advise would be of great value to us

    kindest regards

    Peter

Our first and only trailer after years of tenting is an ALiner. we love it and have put 28,000 km on it since May 2018. ours has dormers which made our decision in getting Val a no brainer. I don't think you will regret your choice. too bad for no dormers. Val.jpg

There is hesitancy in my commenting. Is this an Aliner produced under license or someones version of an Aframe? My opinion is confined to being an Aliner owner. The Expedition is the "big" Aliner. Only one Cruiseliner 5 image was found. Knee jerk reaction: from a side view it appears it doesn't has bubble windows. Aliner bubble windows will leak eventually. A price that has to be paid.

How do you use your camper? We use ours as a base camp. It is not a Class A motorhome and we dont expect that. It is a bed, night toilet, refrigerator and storage vehicle we take to explore an area. We don't spend much time in the camper EXCEPT on rainy days. We don't drive 500 miles to stay indoors.

Dormers are not necessary but they add to "visual space". They make it seem like it is bigger. A shower version makes it seem smaller. We elected we dont need dormers but a shower is too claustrophobic.

Ours has been heavily modified with drawers, etc.. Just go over to the " what have you done to your camper this month thread". Check storage capacity carefully for your needs or can be modified to your needs.

The Expedition comes with 3 layouts. From the comment above I am guessing you are looking at the rare twin bed layout. It has about 4' less of cabinet space than my full mattress layout- not quite as rare. Personally, I would avoid the sofa bed edition the factory pushes.

Are you capable of lifting the roof with your medical condition? Go to a dealer and try to lift a roof. THe electric lifters arent reliable according to some. Dormers add weight to the roof.

What we did was travel about 250 miles to a dealer who had about 7 different models and spent about 30 minutes in each confirming what model we wanted. Then went out and found a used one.

Go to Youtube and search for Aliner. Slim Potatohead has an old 2004. He has worn his out and the his videos are shifting away for DIY improvement and becoming more of a travel video.

Our Aliner fits our personality. Its like marriage. Can you put up with your girlfriend's idiosyncrasies for the rest of your life? Including of those bubble windows. <GG>
