Last time I was there they were out off everything I looked for and and the AC either was broke or they were too cheap to turn it on and the people were all stressed. they guy was waiting on me at the counter when the phone rang and he answered it as he was waiting on me. Didnt say hold on, excuse me or anything, just left me standing there. I am not impressed at all and will go to the 2 other places that are actually in view of the store. The only thing is the other store prices are just as high but they have more mechanical items and hardware.

I hat that it seems all the auto parts store around us do the same thing.

While I've already said my piece about CW, definitely NOT good, I did learn that the GM who was at the Daleville, VA store definitely reacted when I asked him if he was a Franchisee, or straight Corporate. He slowly said they were Corporate. I said "Good! If you can't or won't fix the damage your service people caused, I'll have to speak to your boss." Hey, it worked. And I'm a low life pup owner in their eyes too. But they FLOODED my pup. Did I say FLOODED?? It was really pathetic and yes, when I got home I cried like a defeated child. How DARE they destroy something I saved up for, for SO long, because they're STUPID and even had the gall to LAUGH while they told me how funny it was to THEM, watching 3 of them trying to HAND PUSH the thing into a bay. Mind you, there were THREE bays open when I dropped it off, and 2 when I left. So there was NO reason to even chance it (the whole US knew this 14 state storm was coming in THAT afternoon) with the impending weather.

After two days of drying out, it STILL had water on the hinges and other metal parts (that was NOT condensation!)

I'm really on the verge of collecting everyone's stories, with their permission only, and compiling a folder full of "Why I Will Never Shop at CW, OR, recommend them to my friends." Box it up, with a copy for my files, ship it to corporate and see what happens. Personally, I think they know what goes on where and don't particularly care. For every 5 pup owners they pi$$ off, ONE Class A person makes them more money than us combined." With those odds, why SHOULD they care??

SO sorry again you're going through this...and others as well. When we moved out into the far county, I've actually found THREE private campers sales/service shops, plus one individual who works on them on the side. [8D] [A] [;)] Now let's hope I just never NEED to use them. [A]

I will not shop at camping world! Im not impressed with there employees or the general business plan. They are overpriced, unhelpeful and downright rude. I have been to Lakewood NJ and there Kingston NY locations and have seen enough. They are not interested in helping pup owners so why should we spend our hard earned money there! Most smaller dealers that are privately owned will bend over backwards for your business. My opinion, stay away from CW and give the smaller guys the business.

my [2C] i too have been to cw in kingston, and no they are not the greatest in personality. great selection, price????.
BUT they are the closest to me and yes a necessary evil. being in retail for over 20 years customer service MUST be #1.
free advice: whether right or wrong you get what you pay for. BUT you MAY return to purchase AND paid a bit more for #1 customer service.
it is also hard to give advice in SO many different campers. look at the forum here...different models sometime function differently (eg different model years)
big box stores are just that! the small stores will give you customer service BUT did you buy the item from them? are you going to service the item to them?
there are always 2 different ways to look at things. i live in ny and purchased in maryland, (was in hershey rv show) do i go back to maryland for advice (my daughter in va is on the way) YES and will i order thru their catalog yes. BUT getting the unit serviced thru them, no. therefore cw is my necessary source.
just my humble opinion. and good luck and scan all the forums. there is SO much information and knowledgeable people here! and yes they dont always agree on subjects. propane/ac/dc lol

It's sad that we live in a country that customer service rarely shows up. I work in agriculture and keeping our customers happy is a main part of our job. If we don't make our customers happy they will go up street and we won't be in business long. I know I've been annoyed by swarming sales people that get you right as your feet hit their doorway, but it's also just as annoying when you have to walk to the opposite end of a store to find some 20 something kid, who has no clue what you are talking about and isn't going to help you, standing there talking to his buddies. Oh yes, you have been there too! I see it a lot in new hirees, they come into a job expecting management pay and have no drive to work for what they are earning . My boss has a saying and it makes a lot of sense. Basically, if you love your job, its like you never have to work another day in your life. Happy employees will make your customers come back for another good experience. And yes, good advice is always free especially if you get a loyal customer for life.... This is just my [2C].

The CEO, Marcus Lemonis, comes off as an arrogant creep. Not surprised about negative culture at Camping World.

There was an ordeal that was posted about on here concerning CW sending out DVD's with a return envelope if you didn't want to purchase them. I searched and searched for email addresses. I finally sent one to Marcus Lemonis.

He personally responded to me and gave me a 3 year membership to CW (which I never used). He told me that he was looking into it and was trying to change the way business was run at CW.

He just might be a what you said, but at least he responded to me.

I would like to add my 50 cents. My perception with CW in Roanoke, VA is much the same. Being tired of tent camping we decided to buy a used PUP. We drove 45 minutes to CW and only saw two tiny ancient used PUPs. The salesman was all too eager to talk us into buying a brand new one but we declined and thanked him. We walked around their store to look at camping stuff and not a single employee asked if we needed help the entire time we were in there.

A few weeks later we bought a used pup privately. Setting it up in our driveway we made a list of items to buy and found a lot of it on their web site. I didn't want to order it or wait or pay shipping so I went down to the store again. I certainly couldn't remember what they carried in the store from my previous visit but you would think they would carry common stuff that most people use (especially those traveling)?

First, I wandered around the store and couldn't find a single item I needed. Not a single employee asked me if I needed help again. We wanted a fresh water hose that was rated drinking water safe. Nope, no hoses. We wanted the folding table we saw online (on sale even!) that had canvas compartments underneath. Nope, no tables. We wanted a new anode rod for the hot water heater. Nope, nothing on any shelves related to hot water heaters. We wanted fittings, adapters, hoses and a regulator in order to hook up a high pressure outdoor cook stove. Very little was hanging on the rack. Nope, "service" person couldn't help me find what I needed and they tried to scare me into bringing it in to them to do it. And I will point out that I am very qualified to hook it up myself! We wanted simple tie down brackets to add a second 20 lb tank to the trailer hitch. Nope, they didn't have it. We wanted spare fuses for the converter box. Nope, couldn't find fuses.

I left without making a purchase and drove 45 minutes back home. Ended up buying "most" of the stuff online but must admit that I will probably NOT do any more business with CW. Pitiful service!

First impressions mean a LOT. Second explains even MORE!

WOW ! the wife and i went Camping World in Knoxville TN a month or so ago and had almost the same experience as DZ. We went to look at new campers and couldnt get anyone to wait on us , we asked where the new campers were and the guy just pointed and said over there . then when we went the doors were locked and several sales people walked by and never said a word , so we left and have sworn to never go back.
