We are camping for the long Labor Day weekend at Rocky Gap, we will have electric but water is in common areas. We have not taken our pup to a SP yet, all have been private, some fancy (OC) some quiet (Rock Hall) any tips or suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks.....JoAnn

I have never camped at that particular MD SP. But, we have enjoyed camping at Elk Neck SP in MD. We enjoy the talks by the naturalists and the hiking trails.

Our site was without hookups, at Elk Neck the hookup sites seemed closer together.

I hope you have a good trip. Be sure to post up a trip report when you get back :)

We've been to Rocky Gap the last two Labor Days. We love the place. For Labor Day weekend, they have a karaoke night, ice cream social, pancake breakfast, fireworks ,etc. There is a small nature center that does guided walks and aviary.

The beach is nice and there is a pier for fishing. A trail goes around the lake to the lodge

Cumberland is nearby and you can ride the Western Maryland Railroad, which is a working steam engine.

This year we are going with friends in mid august.

Not looking forward to the opening of the proposed slots casino at the lodge.

HIghly reccomend! We went labor day 2012.L_O_V_E_D it! Great large campsite and for labor day weekend so many activities, corn husking conest, tie dye shirs etc. We do not have children but it was a great time. had to check back and check back to sneak in reservations once a cancellation was made for Labor day this weekend, but we got in on Ash Loop, electirc and pets ok. Bahrooms and showers the best I have eve been at, better than private campsites.....try it!

I have only stayed on the Ash Loop. It is the only loopwith electric and allows pets, they all seem to be good. It is a big circle with sites on the inside road and on the outside of the road. We had a sie I think it was #110 on the inside of the road which I prefered as the bathrooms are in the middle of the circle. Each site had its own path to the bathroom/showers. If you were on the other side of the road, there was a main path to them. All the sites on this particular loop are level and if I remember correctly paved. And LARGE! We could nto see he campers on either side of us. We have our over large Palomino Mustang, my SUV, awning and a canopy and still had plenty of room ! I enjoyed the SP so much we are booked again this labor day. I was hard o get in, had to keep checking and checking and finally someone cancelled! I recommend this place AAA

We stayed there a couple of years ago on our way to DC. It was GREAT! We stayed were you had electric and pets. We had a site on the back of the loop and on the outside. Can't recall the actual site number, but it was a pull through and had plenty of privacy. The shower house was the best we have ever seen. They were clean and modern. We wish we would have stayed longer. It was a one night stop and our way to DC. Would go back and stay longer if we head that way in the future.
