We are thinking of heading there in late June before the kids start working at summer camps. We'd only be there for maybe 4-5 days and we will want to explore the island.
There are no PPs with camping so we need a private campground. Our preference is a PP style campground. We don't need/want bells and whistles or lots of activities (ie movie nights etc) at the campground as we will likely be away and at the water for most of the time.
We will most likely be camping with our dog.
    Any recommendations for us?
    thanks!

Never been, so can't recommend any place but sometimes TripAdvisor has reviews of private campgrounds.. if your planning to take the ferry I have been told to book a reservation.. The northern route will mean more driving but is also a lot cheaper, since the ferry charges by the foot..

It was recommended by a fellow parent and we loved it. Clean hot showers, big sites and steps to the beach. They advertise no bugs and we had just been at Bruce National with tons of bugs but we had none here.

Make sure to visit Bridal Wreath falls and bring water shoes, so much fun to swim in the waterfall. There was a nice chip truck across from the falls.

If you have never had a chance to head that way, it's really beautiful. The Grotto and Flowerpot Islands are really must see Canadian/Ontarian tourist spots.

We've been up the peninsula camping, actually found it kind of "blah" , it was ok, but wouldn't hurry back.. To me it is like going to Mew lake.. been there, done that .. would rather watch golf on t.v then go again ..

I have a rather different view of nature.....I'd love to sit all day with a good book watching the lake or birds, just doing nothing. I love the views and hikes and beautiful sites!
