I took icebox out of pup and built box around icebox. Made out of 1/2" plywood. I had a piece of 1 1/2" pink insulation board that I cut to fit around icebox. Cut 1 1/2" sq. pieces of wood for attaching icebox to plywood box. Primed and painted outside white. Next I'm going to make Reflectix cover. Will be used outside of camper as an extra cooler. I'll freeze a gallon milk jug of water, and fill with frozen food. Should last longer than a regular cooler, provided I can keep it out of the sun.

Reuse, hmmm. Got a freebie icebox that I'm considering using in my Starlite. I'll have to build a cabinet for it or put it in an existing cabinet so it can be accessed from the door without popping the top. I do like your idea of additional stryofoam in the portable cooler.
