I was just wondering if anyone uses one of the small microwaves that Kmart and Walmart occasionally have a sale on for about 40 dollars, or would an appliance like this draw too many amps and be dangerous to use in a pop up.

Many people here do that... and then there are the people like me who never use hook-ups so a microwave would be as useful as a rock.

Having small children and dont boondock at all at this time we bought a small one similar to that to keep in there, it stores nicely under seats and it does get setup with the initial setup. My daughter is starting to get independent and likes to warm stuff up herself, and would much rather her do that in a microwave then over gas oven with open flame.

Yep at times, literally 1 of the smaller wattage ones from Wally World.

If we are on a vacation w hook ups, I'll let the kids get something waveable sometimes to eat.

Walmart version here. Given to the PU by a guest. Infrequent use.

We use ours... Fits under the dinette for transport and sits on the unused stove when popped up. Good for heating up leftovers....

We have a built-in microwave. We have electricity at most of the places we camp. It's nice to have, especially on the first night after setting up. We can take some pre-made sloppy joes or something like that and have dinner ready in a few minutes.

I have a 1,000 watt inverter built in to my TV and have installed a 650w nueker in there. It gets used for warm lunches during the winter when I'm at work and very infrequently when camping.

We bought one at Target when we had our 1981 Starcraft. Our 2009 Rockwood has a built in microwave. We use it often. We will buy those steamable vegetables, or some steamable Spanish rice.

For those who boondock, could not you use it while you are running your generator? It is not like the microwave would run all day like an air conditioner.

Yes. Got a small one from Freecycle. Use it often. Stores under the bench seat.

I have small one I bought at Bi-Mart. I take it when we will have hook ups.

I have a love/hate relationship with my generator. I love that it recharges my batteries. I hate having to run it. Even though it is ultra quiet for a generator I hate that it makes any noise at all. I hate how long I have to run it. I would never run it for a microwave. I have absolutely no use for a microwave when I'm camping.

I bought the $40 micro from walmart. Keep it under the dinette seats and dont use it that often, but I have it just in case. I do bring the 2000 watt honda gen as well. One of the main reasons I bought it is because I cannot stand jiffy pop popcorn. Its not like I absolutely have to have popcorn but when I do, I'll use the micro kind on the bags.

Not me can't cook biscuts in it so it's a toaster oven for us. If we had the room we would have one in the PUP because it would come in handy.

Yes, got one in walmart for $26, was on sale. Used a lot in old pop-up.
Our new one has a built in micro, just the way we want it. [:D] [:D] [:D]

When my husband and I married, he had one and I had one. Eight years later, we still had them sitting around in storage so the smaller one went in the pup. We use them infrequently they will probably last for another 20 years! My husband likes a bag of popcorn while camping sometimes if we are watching a movie on the laptop on rainy evenings.

We have a Niagara that has a built in microwave:

We actually use it occasionally to warm up the eggs and bacon or pancakes I make for breakfast on the outside stove, or sometimes we make popcorn and watch a movie on the laptop if the weather is bad outside.
