We've got a 2014 Coachman clipper model 1285SST, we love camping.

Has anyone wired a LED light for when Water Heater circuit is on??

It's a rocker switch, up is off, down is on, there's no easy to see visual you've left it on and more than once we've left it on too long and used up excess propane gas.

If that rocker switch itself was lighted that would be the best, the other option is a LED light that is part of the circuit, in parallel, and would light up when the switch is in on mode.

My water heater switch is already an illuminated one. But converting yours should be easy. There are plenty of 12V illuminated rocker switches available. You'll just gave to run an additional ground wire for the light. It can be a small wire since it only carries the current for the light. 20-22Ga should be plenty.

Thx for quick response, we just got done with 6 days June/July camping and a few things like this stood out as simple enhancements to the camping experience.

I'll look at the lighted rocker switch like you suggested, Coachman is a major trailer maker makes me wonder why the did not do this upfront??

I'm about ready to make a reminder card for the water heater, since ours is only lighted when it's igniting. We too have left it on longer than planned a few times. The card will be easy for the time being, I don't want to ask my husband to do yet another mod for something that actually works.

Mine has the lighted rocker switch... I see those available from AMAZON... Should not be hard to change out... Even Radio Shack carried those but of course you can't find a Radio Shack anymore these days...

We like using AMAZON with the two day PRIME shipment. Almost as fast as going downtown one day to find one...

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's just crazy talk. :)
The rules are: If it's broke, fix it. If it's not broke, mod it.

Depends on what water heater you have. Can not be done with gas only. Easily done if you have a electric heating element. Easily done with a self lighting water heater.

I turn mine on and forget about it until time to leave.
Similar to leaving thermostat alone at the house when gone all day.

Lighted switches are available at most auto parts stores, RV dealers ,Lowes, Home depot, CW, etc... should be no problem changing your switch out for one
