I just noticed this section of the forum that is right up my ally.
Yes im a serious astronomer among other things I wont get long winded so Ill just post a link to my website and you can see my equiptment and images I have captured from my home in fife lake michigan.Just let me say you dont need all the goodies like I have to enjoy the night sky.A decent set of 8x50 or 10 x 80 binos will work just fine for many things.
Remember summer is the time for the southern milkeyway to make its yearly showing. You can spend many hours in the constellation of sagittarious (shaped like a tea pot in the southern horizon) and still not see everything there is to see there.
Http://astronomy.qteaser.com is my personal website. All images are captured by me.

Have a wonderful night out under the stars.

    Regards

    Mark

Sweet set up, and great pictures. I'm just a beginner, using 10X50 binoculars but I'd like to step up a bit. I live too close to a city, and one that has a great deal of marine layer to cloud the skies, so I want something I can easily transport. Still considering the step to a telescope.

Mark, I'm so jealous of your set-up. I have a couple of smaller scopes and a 8 inch dob, but nothing to take pretty pictures with [:(] But great website and awesome pics. Keep up the good work.
