I need to replace the hubs on my '78 Starmaster 6. I figured I might as well replace hub to hub including axle. I wonder what is the correct axle for this trailer (2000# / 2200# / 3500# ?) Originally had hydraulic brakes - I reckon I'll go electric this time for simplicity. Any wisdom to share on this topic?

The present axle should have a weight rating on it.

i believe it is a 2000# dexter, the aluminum tag is wrapped around the axle tube. If it was mine I would order a flipped spring mount to add height and tire clearance with the '78s closed wheel well.

You can be sure that when they built the camper they put the minimum rated axle that could handle the max. gross weight of the camper. There is nothing wrong with upgrading the axle if you have the room.
