We weren't camping but this is what our poor dog looked like Monday morning. We had let him out in our fully fenced backyard before work and didn't know we had company out there in the dark. Bear with me if the photo doesn't come through, first time trying to add attachments.

Aww the poor baby!! Being a dog lover I feel SO bad when this happens. I don't think we have porcupines where we live, but I don't know! I do know we have underground turtles who dig their way out into the dog fenced area and I have to rescue them! LOL

Just watched a vet show where a Great Dane, I think it was, had to be completely sedated, his jaw jacked open, and they were pulling them out of his THROAT!! He tried to swallow the bad critter!!

Fast healing and lots of extra loving!!!

Back to the vet's again today, he's off his feed completely and isn't his usual happy self. We have pulled 8 more quills out of him since he came home. They are the devil to find. Doc told us today he was the worst one he's done so far as he must have chomped down on the prickly devil as he ran into him. He took tons of them out of the inside of the mouth and tongue. They have discontinued his anti-inflammatory to see if it just an upset tummy from the pills. Hoping that's all it is.
Thanks for the good wishes! It's hard watching your baby hurt [:(]

Back to the vet's today as he is still refusing to put his head down to bowl level. Eats fine if you feed him at eye level with a fork no less lol. Vet can't get any pain reaction no matter how he manipulates his head and neck. Hoping if it's still a quill issue that it migrates out and not further in :(
Vet says this is the time that they normally see more of these cases and they have had 4 more in the last week.
