    When boondocking with a generator, what's the best way to charge my deep cycle battery? should I plug my camper's main power cord into the generator or hook some type of battery charger from the generator directly to the battery on my trailer. Assuming both of these options will work - what are the pro's & con's? Thanks for your time.

    When using a generator the goal is to minimize run time and use the least amount of gas possible.

    Your question cannot be answered without more information;
    What total AH@20 hour rate does your battery bank have?
    What brand and model number converter do you have?
    What portable charger do you have?

    Normally the intention is to deplete the battery bank to around 50% and then charge back to 80% using the generator. The time to get from 80% to 100% is excessive and not practical to do using a generator.
