Looking for help to install battery on popup. Wiring already in place. Looks like a ball of wire with no battery. Want to make sure that the battery wired correctly to recharge off truck and when I plug into shore. Or, can you only plug into your auto? Does shore recharge? Does truck charge. And last ,correct wiring.

Do you have a photo of what you have?
What camper do you have? And convertor? Most modern ones will charge the battery from Shore Power, older ones may not. Some may overcharge if left on Shore Power too long. The battery should charge from the truck if it is set up that way, do you h ave a 4-way or 7-way plug on the umbilical cord to the truck? It also can make a difference if the truck is set up for charging, the shop had to confirm we had a charging line when we got our first camper with a battery.
Hint, if you add the make, model, and year of your camper to your signature line, it helps the rest of us know what you're dealing with. Adding tow vehicle helps too.

Tks for your help.

You won’t be able to charge from your vehicle using a 4 flat. Your converter will charge when plugged into Shore Power. As far as connecting, black should be positive, white negative.

You can. You will need to make sure you have 12v at the aux terminal at the truck connector with the key on. Then you would have to add a wire on the trailer end that would connect to the charge wire from the converter. I think @Raycfe has a nice simple diagram that may help….

And your charge rate it's really slow via the seven pin compared to Shore Power or a battery charger plugged in at home.

What’s the end of the plug look like that plugs into the socket on your trailer tongue? If it has 6? pins then someone changed it to a 4 pin plug. If that is the case then you probably have the wires you need.

Not to disbelieve, but I have an ’82 jayco and the top picture of this post is the connection on the trailer. I did change the other end (that I plug into the truck) to a 4 pin plug because I don’t need the other wires (back up lights, battery connection, brakes). Yours is a 2001 and I can’t believe that your trailer connection originally was a flat 4. If that truly is the case, then a PO changed it.
