I'm restoring a Lionel L500. It has the lift crank by the door. The lift crank axle/tube is across the trailer and about 6 feet long. It's the same lift system as Bonair.

After taking off the gear box, I noticed the lifting crank axle is bent. Should I replace this? The trailer was lifting but was very hard to lift. I've lubricated the pulleys and just about to put the restored gear box back on.

I would but maybe fit the bent one to see if everything ok while sourcing a replacement.

Thanks, looks like a replacement is hard to find. It is more than just a regular axle. It should be workable for now.
