We just visited Coeur d'Alene for the first time since we moved to the PNW (Seattle area) on our way through to Yellowstone and fell in love! What we hated was the ugly campground/RV park which backed up to a neighborhood in a shopping area. We know that there must be some beautiful camping areas on or near the lake and wonder if anyone can give me some suggestions...although electricity is not necessary as we'd think beauty and woods trumps having power, it would be nice? Does any such place in the area exist?

Farragut State Park is fairly close and is really nice. We will be down there again this summer.

We stayed at Mokins Bay on our way to Yellowstone in 2016. It's about 15 minutes off of Hwy 95 in the CDA area. Our site had a lovely view of the bay, and from what we could see, most of the sites were quite large. It is a NF campground, so pit toilets and no hookups, but it's definitely a place we would go back to if we are in the area again.
