The town of Van Buren is kind of a sleepy place, but the Current River is really fun. The water is cold at first but you get used to it. It is a shallow fast moving river that is great for floating, tubing, rafting, kayaking or fishing. You can rent all sorts to fun water toys there from various vendors.
Big Spring is the other highlight of the area and Mark Twain National Forest is where it is all located if you are into the National Forest camping thing.
Because of the rain on saturday, business was down some and campsites were available on a holiday weekend and reasonable. We had electric, water and cable hookup for about $20 per night and a clean restroom/bathhouse.
