This reminded me of the Tremors movie The Army brat couples (Michael Gross and Reba McEntire). They always talk about how tough their home is, and truck and guns etc... Now I see how tough the E3 plus Hummers heh..

I do have a cheap pop rivet device that I picked up recently for another project, but haven't used it yet. For holding the bumper on I think I like the idea of the self tapping screws better, and the hex head screws you described are already holding the bottom side of the bumper anyway. I generally prefer fasteners that are removable.

Well... The purpose of the carrier is to gain access to the 175# 4D battery that in the box in front of it. It also provides a bit of extra security to keep the crack heads from stealing it like they did when the battery's were on the tongue. Lastly the stock carrier would not fit anymore after the frame was extended to house the battery box. All in all, this was a GREAT mod. Another side benny of moving the battery was it took a good bit (90+lbs)of the excess tongue weight off.
