I should have mentioned that my PUP already has racks on the roof but the spacing is 67", this is probably too far to use a Yakima or Thule bike rack? I also will be transporting a 130 pound Hobie Pro Angler kayak on the roof.
You should be mindful of the total weight you're adding to the PUP roof. If you have an A/C, you will be close to the weight capacity with just the Hobie added to the roof. You could also probably extend the Yakima or Thule bike racks to fit the crossbar spacing by using longer U- channel. I could mount everything on my PUP but it would be too close to the weight limits and by having my bikes on my TV, I have lessened the offloading of toys before setting up the PUP.
My setup with Kayaks and bikes.
These are the racks I'm looking into myself. They're a bit on the pricey side, but seem to be a highly logical solution in RE to weight distribution, etc
Wonder if the weight rating is the same for all the roofs (ABS and Aluminum) and all the Colemans/Fleetwood PUP's? My TV has racks on the SnugTop bed cover but I would need to get the cross bars and upright mounts, this would allow me to split the load, carry the yak on the PUP and carry the bikes on the TV.................
That was the dry fit.. i put on custom brackets in the roof close to the rear on both sides in the end and used a 49$ canadian tire trunk rack..
worked well for 6000Km road trip this summer
