We brought our bikes to the 2016 Alabama Summer Rally. Tomorrow, we are taking them up the road to Chattanooga. Chattanooga is a wonderful family friendly city with loads of pedestrian and bike riding venues. Two of our favorite rides: The pedestrian bridge that is free of motor vehicles as it is dedicated to walkers and bike riders. The bridge spans the mighty Tennessee River; it is a cool trek! On the other side of the bridge, there is a great park with interactive water features full of playing kids and an authentic 19th century carousel. The other ride that we love is the paved river walk/bike path that begins in an antebellum neighborhood known as the Bluff View Arts District. The path winds through amazing 19th century homes; many of them have been reborn into bakeries, pasta shops, cafes, and museums. Then the river walk takes you through sculpture gardens, into more beautifully restored Craftsman era neighborhoods, the marina, and UT Chattanooga. We hope to get an early start as the afternoon thunder is a likely bet. It is summer in the South after all!
