This morning I was getting ready to go hone from Palmetto SP in Texas. I prepacked all my gear, turned off the AC, took down the door, and went outside to wipe the drips off from the AC runoff. It kept dripping where I had wiped, so I decided to push the bunk in. I heard a loud crash inside and ran to see what happened. I hadn't put the ice chest on the floor yet. The bunk knocked it off the counter. It broke, opened, and spilled the melted water from 20 pounds of ice all over the floor. It pooled under the dinette. I moved all my gear to the truck and used a "sham wow" from the dollar store to soak it up. It took about 80 soaks and wring outs to get it all. Now the PUP is airing out in the driveway!

    What a bonehead!

I've always thought that as long as it's not illegal, immoral, or flies in the face of basic commons sense it's OK to make mistakes. Just don't make the same mistake twice! And I doubt that you will.

I am not surprised. At end of camping trip, one is a little tired and maybe rushed. Prime time for SPUTs.

I've done a similar thing.. For me, the very last thing to go in the door when packing up is the cooler. I smartly pulled the drain plug while packing up to let the water out, (because water is heavy and sloshes a lot) and after everything got packed, in went the cooler. After we got home, my DW asked me why there is water dribbling out of the corner of the PUP.. It turns out I didn't re-close the drain valve on the cooler before packing it. DOH!

^ did the same thing over the 4 of July... Cooler was in the PUP 8 hours in the parking lot at work.

Wasn't a ton of water but man it was a fun cleanup before we setup at the camp site.

How about hooking the city water up and listening to what you think is the hotwater heater filling up for about five minutes, only to find out that sound you hear is the sink faucet running and the cutting board cover is on the sink.

20 pounds of ice water vs five minutes of open faucet on the floor. I may have your blunder beat!

My old Starcraft had a hinged, swing up closet and I tried to push the bunk end in a few times only to run into the still-erect closet. [:I] I have got into the habit of looking inside the PUP before I slide the first bunk in to make sure everything is down and there is nothing still sitting where I can SPUT it.
