I purchased a Tekonsha Prodigy and need to wire it up. Its a little more difficult since we didn't get the trailer package with our truck (06 Dakota QC). Has anyone had TV battery drain issues with hooking the controller directly to the battery (as per instructions)? Is the amount of power it uses not worth worrying about? Or is unplugging the brake controller just part of setting up camp?
    Thanks for the info.

Just leave it plugged in. If it's not hooked up to a trailier, it isn't putting out any voltage, so the power consumption is practically nil. It goes into a power saving mode when not in use (after a few minutes without brake activity). If you unplug the controller, it will lose its settings and you will have to set the power level again before towing.
