New camper and the pull-out bunk ends have just plywood underneath. Does anyone paint or protect these in any way? Bare exposed wood seems a bad idea to me and I think it would last better if I did something.

I've thought about just a coat or two of paint but I've also though about a bed liner type material. I'd have to check clearance to make sure nothing would rub. What are your thoughts on doing something like this?

    NO! Wood needs to breathe

Don't coat the bottom of the beds or the PUP with anything, they are designed to breathe.

This plywood should not be getting wet at all, thus no need to protect it.

Think about your house the floor is not painted in your crawl space nor the bottom of your table or most places.

Don't paint it. Go camping instead.

My camper is a 1996 jayco and still has the same bare wood under the beds that it was born with , and it looks almost like new , so I would GUESS leave it bare .
