Camping weather?

We are 100 today before the heat index...we have a reservation for last weekend of the month.
How many of you camp no matter how hot/ cold or rainy
It is?
Personally it doesnt bother me but i have a 14 yr old dog i worry about and boarding is not a option.
How many also base their decisions to camp on the weather?

Never base it on weather, it can change in a heartbeat. Just go camp and make the best of the situation.

I never worry about the weather I go as planned Ma Nature will do as she wants and the weather people are mostly never right anyway. having a farm with animals, I go when I am able and a bad day camping is much more relaxing and peaceful than a good day at work

My ideal camping weather is 60-75 during the day and 36-50 at night. I camp where the weather is closest to that ideal regardless of season.

Temps over 95 make me sick. I do not go outside in high temps unless absolutely necessary. Even 5 minutes outside in 95+ temps can drain me completely.

Fortunately, I live in an area where I can get to campgrounds that meet my temperature needs in any season. Mountains in the summer, foothills in the winter, and for fall and spring I play it by ear.

Even if I had hookups and could use the AC, camping in high temps is not worth it - I'd just have to inside the camper the entire time or risk getting sick. With cold temps, I can use my Mr Heater to warm up inside, and go out whenever a break in the rains happen.

I don't like the heat either but Like Toes, I can avoid it. If it's hot I'll go camping at elevation or go to the coast, and the coast requires reservations so we usually go higher. We're planning next week to go to a nice place at about 8000'. I have an old unboardable dog too. I'll probably spend the trip lying next to him gasping for oxygen getting sunburned.

I can have fun in any weather...when its hot the beer is that much better.
But i do worry about my dogs and my old girl more so.
I figure if i got to sit in the AC all weekend i might as well be home.

If you were home you wouldn't be camping. Its not about doing without, but doing what you like with what you have or can do. And sometimes compromise is made in between.

I have only cancelled one trip due to weather, that was 7? Years ago when we had a few weeks of 100+ temps in Michigan, it was insane. I got sunburned the first week while camping and I was completely shaded the entire time, it was nuts. This year our first scheduled trip is in August, I am really hoping this heatwave passes by then. We will still go, the 2 air conditioners should handle it and we will be comfortable, but I prefer to be outside seeing things when camping, not hiding inside. But, there are lots of ways to relax and entertain ourselves inside with air conditioners if needed.

If you were home you wouldn't be camping. Its not about doing without, but doing what you like with what you have or can do. And sometimes compromise is made in between.

I hear ya except i dont want to have my dog in the camper while im outside.
Shes my best bud.
Not compaining cuz i dont mind sacraficing a trip for her well being.
She has for sure earned it.

Then compromise, get a ellectrical site( you did get an ac with the camper? Not sure?) and treck off a bit farther for you. You can do both. If its not doable i get it. But i would get an ac if i didn't have one if its needed. And compormise on the site location. I do half glampgrounds for the kido and half just ellectric sites for me( a bit more scenic) but not exactly what i want. But at lwast i get out.

Personally, I'd rather be hot than cold. Unless it's just stifling hot with a ton of humidity, I can find a little shade, a few cold ones and I'm good to go.

We're leaving in the morning for four days at a new-to-us campground. Temps are supposed to be in the low 90s during the day. But we'll be close enough to the lake that I'll be able to cast a line without leaving our site.

I have AC...not gonna leave my dog in AC all day and i dont wanna sit in there all day.
I would rather wait till it cools down.
Hopefully by our next trip we will be back in the 80's.
Today was so bad when i put them out to potty they came in and panted for a half hour.
Its all good...no different really than having a kid in sports etc etc...sometimes things dont work out.

Im the opposite...i can layer up and build a fire but you can only take so many clothes off.
Ive spent some cold days in a treestand so cold camping is okay for me.
The beer is better when its super hot though!!

I’ve camp during 100° degree weather in AZ. Just crank the AC during the heat and relax inside and or use the outdoor shower to spray ourselves to cool down while hanging out in the shade with cool drinks.

We won’t cancel our trips because of weather. Our Aliner is a four season camper that allows us to camp in all different types of weather throughout the year.

For me, compromising with the heat defeats the purpose of camping. I camp to get out in the forest and bring the pets with me. Being stuck in the camper for the AC because it's too hot to be outside isn't worth the expense.

In contrast, for me, I don't mind camping in the rain. I find hanging out in the camper in the rain to be a pleasure. And it's easy to take short walks here and there. Being stuck in the camper is balanced by hearing the storm/rainfall around me. A comfy blanket, curled up on the couch with a good book, hot cocoa, fresh baked cookies, and my pets is an enjoyable trip.

We are fotunate living on our temperate island, we don't have a need for AC, but I will check the forcast for high winds. I can put up with a bit of rain but I can't relax when the wind picks up and the trailer sounds like an old sail boat flapping about.
