Have any of the DW's or DG's camped while they were pregnant?
My DW and I just found out we are expecting <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Shock"> <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Big Smile"> and she asked if there were things she needed to look out for while camping.
    Thanks for any input.

My DW was 7 month pregnant when we finally stopped tent camping, she said it was too uncoftable and the heat of the summer did not help. But that was then when we had our tent, now with the PUP and the A/C..... whoohooooo !

We camped the last weekend in August and my son was born September 12th(induced 10 days early because he was huge - just under 10 lbs.). And an interesting side note, we had the boy camping at 9 days old. If you got a/c then it aint no thang. Both times the campground was within 45 minutes of home so if anything arose we could be back home real quick.

I mean I did all the set up and take down, but I seem to do that anyways so it was really no difference. Obviously we didn't go on long hikes or anything, but we were able to get away for a few days - so that was nice.

Last year, we tent camped in July with our 1-1/2 year old while the wife was 7 mo pregnant and had a broken ankle. We didn't do any hiking, actually we mostly stayed at the campsite.

We had an air mattress for the ten, but just be sure that you have comfortable beds. Maybe even get a memory foam mattress topper. AC would probably help too.

DW was 8 months pregnant with our DD. She did almost step on a rattlesnake, but thats another story for a different forum. All turned out OK and it makes for a good story now.

Defintely go! You'll have a great time and it will be good for you both - lots of fresh air, exercise, being away from the stress of home & work. Of course dw shouldn't do any of the heavy stuff and should only hike, bike etc. as feels is good/comfortable for her. I would bring plenty of extra pillows so she is comfy and a nice outdoor chair for her to sit on w/an attached stool to put her feet up. Also, lots of healthy food & snacks and make sure she has plenty of water to stay hydrated. If it were me, just as a precaution, I'd be sure to know where the nearest hospital was, just in case.

    Enjoy!

Heck definitly go. My gf and I went camping when she was a few months along (through all 4 pregnancies), the only problem we had was with the park warden (aka conservation officer) who gave us sh!t because we were off our campsite after 11pm..... when you gotta go ya gotta go!

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. After reading the posts my DW has decided there is no reason not to go.

Although you could tell her that your just looking out for her and the babies best intrest in leaving her at home with friends or the mil, while you go out camping with the boys. <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Big Smile">

One more thing I just remembered - be sure to get a good all natural insect repellent. She wouldn't want to use a chemical laden one while pregnant.

I camped (in a tent) through all 3 of my pregnacies. I saw someone else mentioned get a site by the bathroom, or get a port a potty. Also think about campgrounds with nice cooling off capability like a nice beach or pool.
