We just got back home from Daly (Blue Earth) County campground. It is located south of Mankato about 5 miles from Mapleton. It is one worth returning to. The campgrounds are clean. The baths/showers are very clean and private. The sites al sit within sight line of the lake. About 2/3 have electric hookups. Separate loops are for tenting vs. towed vehicles / RVs.
The campground sits on a Laua Lake and has miles of shoreline for its size. We were regretting not bringing our canoe as the lake is perfect for exploring. While not a deep lake (9’ at the deepest and 5’ average), there were lots of fish jumping this weekend. The weather was great (warm enough to bring on the Asian beetle infestation as well as no-see-us).
The water and electric is on through the 20th of October so hookups were active. The park was about 1/2 full on the weekend so we had a quiet time since we were there from Thursday through Monday.
The campground has horseshoe pits, volley ball court, a 9-hole frisbee golf course, fishing docks and boat launch, covered eating area for larger gatherings, and a couple of hiking trails in the woods and out to a peninsula that juts out into the lake.
Kudos to the caretakers and folks that work there. They do a real nice job of keeping the grounds looking great!
All in all, it is one we will come back to again, especially in the fall time when the leaves are turning!
