December 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

For those needing it, here's your battery charge reminder.

As I'm posting, it's not even 7 a.m. local time, and not a thing done for the camper. It's at the shop to have the black tank valve replaced, so the driveway looks empty.
I'm going to work on quilt projects today, one of my next quilts will be a lighter-weight/less warm one for the trailer. Does that count?

We have the trailer home, new black valve installed, no charge. Our service advisor said it was obvious it was defective. Now parked for the winter, i.e. a far to that side of the driveway as we can manage and still have room for garbage & recycle bins, and access to the back yard.I'l call the detailer tomorrow and see if we can that up for both trailer and truck.

Haven't laid eyes on our TT since late October, but I did make a reservation for Memorial Day weekend.

Installed a new switch for the lift pump, installed some new LED lights and they are BRIGHT! Got keys from Coleman parts, pulled out the beds and meaured them (and forgot the size), connected to Shore Power and saw what was working and not. Found out what brand my fridge(forgot but i know its propane), toilet (forgot but know where the cassette is) and converter? maybe thats it (forgot but know its common) were. And got puzzled why i coulnt run anything off battery. Few steps forward, handful back.

Readjusted the tarp on the trailer this morning as the recent high winds shifted it just so and my CDO could no longer ignore it. Will pull the battery this weekend and set it up on a trickle charger in the garage as the temps keep trending in the upper 30's at night and the battery is five years old and still going strong.

just like what I've done last year... and the year before that... and the year before that... I opened the garage, patted it on it's top and told it "there there... this will be over before you know it"... tucked it back in, turned off the lights, closed the door... and wiped a tear from my eye

Tucked Away at storage yard. I do need to check the cover as we did have some high winds the other day but I'm usually safe as I have two 25' travel trailers on either side of me so they take the brunt of it and the storage yard has no trees in the parking lot. A friend sadly had a large tree branch hit their travel trailer due to those same winds. Sadly his camper may be totaled. That is one of my biggest fears about camper ownership. Trees are NOT your friends in wind.

Aero flap is now off the truck, since we won't be towing until at least March. Removes my landmark to find the white truck in a sea of white trucks in parking lots, but will exercise my short-term memory.
Stashing camper-related things in the house, all the bedding and rugs are washed, etc.

Add on: and there will be many, framed up the lid to the front storage box, coleman abs box lid was shot. Figured out the switch problem to one of the lights. Aired the old gal out (been shut for almost a year.....stagnient). Put noodles around the bed sides and top. Priced reflectix (next payday.....) .Removed and bondoed over where the exterior light was (gonna go solar or battery). Burned some inscense in her (good juju) and basically sat in the old gal and sighed for longing to take her on her maiden voyage and smiled because of the progress i have been making. Hoping for a local shakedown in January and planning a big trip in April.

Aero flap?

It's actually called an AeroShield. it maybe saves us 1-2 mpg while towing. It seems to help with the bow wave as semis pass and such events.

The appointment for the mobile detailer for the trailer and truck is for Monday morning. We'll see if it actually happens, there is a winter storm predicted for Monday and Tuesday. 51% chance of rain on Monday, winds 15-25 mph with occasional gusts over 40 mph. Hoping it doesn arrive until later Monday. The low Sunday night is just above freezing, down to the low 20s and teens after that.
I found a new curtain rod yesterday, so that's int he trailer awaiting installation.
I looked at the temperature indicators, and realized the freeezer sender has a dead battery. I think we're just going to pull all the current batteries and just start fresh for most next season, instead of trying to figure out which should be carried over.

bought new shoes for the ebrakes. We will install them in January, before a Death Valley winter trip.

We have remote-read max/min thermometers for the fridge and freezer. Not exactly remote, since the display unit is on the wall under the sender units, but it was the best max/min we found, on the 3rd or 4th try. Lets us know how both freezer and fridge are doing, and the reason we know we can't travel without the fridge running. You can see the sender units, with wires going into the 2 sections of the fridge, near the ceiling. Squarish gray unit is the display, it includes room temp too.
New tires and spare for the 4Runner, not that it gets used as a tow vehicle anymore. That got us thinking about our July trip to Colorado, where the 4Runner can be a better vehicle for trailhead parking, etc. We think we will take both vehicles, with me driving up a couple of days ahead of Courtenay, with the truck and trailer. Reservation window opens at the end of the month, so we'll see what we get.
Extender antenna for the trailer rear view camera was removed today, it sits too high to use the cover over it.

In my continuing efforts to power my PUP off my GoalZero Yeti 3000X, I added external solar charging ports so I can plug my panels into the side of the camper and not have to come through a cargo door to be able to charge the Yeti.

I bought 3 12v outlets to install on the outside of the PUP, because I bought a 12v cooler that does not run on batteries and a Coleman H2Oasis on demand water heater that does run on batteries but needs to be charged after a few uses. I just have to figure out if I'm going to install them through the frame or make metal tabs that mount to the bottom of the frame.( I'm leaning towards through the frame). But that'll have to wait till I install the helper springs and heavy duty shocks I bought for my TV. I was close to weight capacity so I figured I'd add the helpers to help my suspension a little and I needed new shocks anyway so figured I go heavy duty also. Getting ready to tow across country this spring (hopefully if wife's health allows). With the new cooler, water heater and shower tent, lots of new toys to play with can't wait to go camping.

Edit: I think it's time to think about going solar!

We towed ours down to Meaher State Park in south Alabama for a week of "winter" camping. (Just got home yesterday). Temps were around 75 during day and 60 at night. No rain this year but thick fog every night. Sadly, that's her last trip until spring.

The pup is tucked away in our garage, so in November and December, all the exterior hatches on the trailer become hiding places for Christmas presents. Let's hope I don't pull a Clarke Griswold and can find all the gifts I hid.

The trailer and truck are now nicely washed and polished, with the roof treatment done on the trailer too. The detailer had to break off yesterday when it began to rain and snow, so he came back today. Only a few flurries, so he was able to finish them. Guess those are the perils of waiting until December to have it done.
Tangent to the trailer, more or less, we had a nuisance critter control company come today, after I heard something in one of the walls in the house - where two of the cats have been intently staring off and on for the past few days. Turns out we have far more openings mice can get in than we dreamed, sort of amazing we've never had issues before. I wanted to make sure anything we did to make the house less open to them doesn't drive them to the trailer, but it seems like we have a plan. I was talking to the neighbor next door as we were walking the roof with the critter guy (we have flat roof and stairs, I don't do ladders). They are having an issue too, so much so he said he can smell urine, which seems scary in the land of hantavirus and such. Just as happy to have a safe plan to keep them out of trailer and house. We've had campers since the turn of the century, and been in the house since 1990, and have only had mice in the garage before. I usually set snap traps, but the only one I set so far this year didn't stay set, but didn't catch anything.
