Yes, go get something better than a plastic hinge.

 

I wouldn't even consider replacing that with the original style. Take it up to your local hardware store and find a metal one.

 

Get the proper length piano hinge and screws at your local hardware store or big box. Much sturdier.

 

Is that a plastic hinge?? I doubt that's factory. I can't conceive how anyone would think that's a good idea. Get a good metal hinge with some tapered screw heads so they sit flush with the hinge plate and don't risk ripping your cushions.

 

That is a factory hinge. I just replaced two of the same style or type on my 2005 palimino pony. I use metal hinges from Lowe's.

 

I agree with all other responses .. any hinge will do. It doesn't even need to be the exact same size. Obviously metal from any store. I've never seen a plastic hinge in my life.
