I have a question that has bugged me ever since I got our PuP.
The manual says that the dinette should have the backrest cushions against the smaller metal tab with the velcro attached and the seat cushion with the plastic stubs inside the metal frame....no problem with that.......but what is the longer metal tab as shown in the pic for? I know someone will have the answer and I'll feel stupid, but I can't work it out and it's not mentioned.

A guess only: Is this a brace to add strength to the seat edge?

Not the long horizontal square bar spanning the width of the seat frame, I'm refering to the longer of the two hinged metal tabs attached to it (pictured in my hand), it also raises like the shorter one and has 180 degree up/down movement.

I had that same bar in my first pup. Never could figure out what its purpose was for, other than to get in the way.

The bar you are inquiring about is there to hold the seat bottom in the up position for ease of stowing and un-stowing gear. In other words, you lift the seat up and flip the bar up to hold the seat open.

Hmmmm. We've wondered about the same metal support in our PU. To stow, we've found it much simpler to just move the whole cushion off the seat. Thinking about it, how would you ever get anything under the seat if you used the tab as a support for the cushion. The tab would hold the cushion right square in the middle of the opening longways, thus blocking access to the underseat area. Not the cleverest of designs....

OK, I was guessing wrong! Looks like I have to go back to school and study mechanics this time, not Computer software! I did learn something though! Thanks for those of you who actually know something!

My Coleman Newport has more than adequate room for loading and unload using the tab to keep the seat bottom lifted. In fact I load my outside stove and Mr. Heater Buddy this way without any trouble at all. I am however only familiar with _my_ camper so others may be smaller. Hope this helps. :)
