I assumed all Starcraft's had a Goshen lift, but upon calling Goshen to inquire about safety posts for my 1995 Starcraft 1224 Starlounge, the lady didn't have that model noted.

    They have 2 different sizes.

Do I have a Goshen lift?

And also, I would be ok using some 1x4s or something, but how would you get a tight fit? I don't want to risk opening the lift system too far.

The Goshen lift system has only one cable running in a tube under the camper. All four lifting springs and corner tubes are connected to the one center tube. If that is what you have, then you have a Goshen system which needs safty posts. The other type system is called a Whiffletree system (sp?). I don't believe that system required safety posts. Take a photo underneath your camper and post it here. I have no experience with any type of lift other than the Goshen system.
