I have read and enjoyed many posts about naming campers. Many include those names in their signature.
My first effort actually involved my parents 5'r. For those who don't know the story, after many years of encouragement by their offspring to get out and see the world, my folks bought a really nice fiver last year. At it's first outing my brother and I (with a cold one in hand) determined that the proper name for the beast is "Sorry Kids".
We are in our 4th pop up, but had never really considered naming one before this. Well, walking through White River CG, this weekend the name finally came to me - THE QSR! What might that be you ask?
When we returned to pop up camping last year, we quickly decided that camping is as much fun for empty nesters as it was during the child raising years. But DW had one stipulation - she wanted her own conveniences before turning 50. That means all facilities on board if you know what I mean. And I can't tell you when 50 arrives for her. I'm reaching that number this fall.
So after much exploration, the gently used Cheyenne was traded for the new Highlander with everything on board.
The second thing to know is that our four legged child - Aspen is without doubt the spoiled princess of the household. Aspen is allowed to claim that position on one condition - she (and all others in this household) must acknowledge who the queen is...
So all things considered - the pop up is officially titled
In much the same tradition as boat owners like to give their boats cute or fancy little names, I thought it would be cool do give my N2UPUP a name of it's own. Well, being that our family sir name is Cherry, I though it would be cool to dub it the "Cherry Popper"! I was all proud of the fun and unique moniker until a friend reminded me that "cherry popper" was an activity that we rather unsucessfully participated in years ago in high school and probably wasn't the most appropraite name for our family camper. Thus, I'm seaking the help of the Portal community to assist me in finding the perfect name. Keep in mind that our sir name truly is Cherry and therefore should be somewhere in the title. Maybe ya'll think the "Cherry Popper" would still be ok or maybe you have a suggestion for a better name.
Please understand that I need to have a suitable name before September 14th when we will be taking our maiden voyage. I've already purchased a vintage 40oz Bush to break over the bow when we Christen her the day that we sail off to Pymatuning SP Jamestown PA campground. Please help us find a suitable name for our little "cherry popper"!
How about "Cheery Popper"? Or "Wild Cherry's"
I've never come up with a good name for
my own camper, although my daughter calls it
"Steve" for some unknown reason.
I thought about "The Big Unit" since it is
a big highwall.
Ours is the QSR. Our husky is often refered to as the spoiled princess of the house (by all including our sons). DW says that is fine. The husky can be the princess as long as everyone knows who the queen of the residence is.
So the trailer became the QSR - Queens Summer Residence
In your case (given your photography skills) - why not something like The Photo Pup? or Cherry's Camera & Camper (CCC)
Wow, getting some really great suggestions and I actually like quite a few of them. Maybe I'll let this post run on for a few more days and then create a poll of my favorites and let ya'll vote!
fergusonman, I seriously hadn't thought of that and I'd hate to commit a beer felony, so I think I'll secretly open the beer, chug it down, refill the bottle with some H2O and then proceed to Christen the PUP. I'm going to practice a little tonight with a few 12 ouncers (gotta work my way to the big 40s) while sitt'n on the front porch admiring the PUP in the driveway.
How about the "Merry Cherry's. My other suggestion would be "U.S.S Consitution" in honor of your earlier post <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>
Mine is "My Kismet" named after the village on Fire Island. All I need is a kismet lighthouse sticker and I 'll be all set with the name graphics. If anyone knows how to get one (attn LI'ers)let me know.
There used to be a 77' Dodge Custom Van in our part of town that had "Cherry Popper" airbrushed on the side. It looked great and I am sure made parents nervous when parked in front of their homes. I would vote for a name change.
