Our PUP is called Idris
It's from Doctor Who, we are dorks
I'm one of those old people that doesn't know all that kind of stuff - I've turned into my daddy and talk about the old days.
Wow this is an old post! I've since dumped the hubby (what did he know anyway) and kept the pup. I named it Xanadu (Rush reference to a poem...a place of great beauty and contentment)...
To seek the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
To break my fast on honey dew
And drink the milk of paradise...
Because everywhere we go I find a Xanadu.
I'm getting my friend to make a vinyl cutout for my spare tire cover with it.
I'm glad you reposted because I was thinking about this the other day -- what does he know? The Mayflower and Christopher Columbus' ships, Niña, Pinta, and Santa Maria didn't have engines.
I started out with Ziggy Stardust (now owned by a friend), then Rusty (the Jayco - sold), now Sid the Solaire I have never named my trucks, campers on the other hand....
I'm thinking about "Gary" 'cause it's a Coleman and also kinda little.
My pup has several different names depending on the current situation. For example, during the re-wire of the entire electrical systems she was called...well....let’s say a name that rhymes with “ducking fitch”. On the contrary when she was keeping us dry from the downpour on the maiden voyage, she was happily referred to as “good girl”. So it really does depend on the situation but I like to always “run the gamut”
Now THAT is funny!
Our 2004 Tacoma is called The Beach Shack. This is in honor of what USED to be the best blues bar in Central Florida (in Cocoa Beach), and to recognize our preferred lifestyle. ;-) We did a makeover thread with our beach theme mods. Some of these campers have great names, by the way...lol. Interesting thread. We considered "Too Mucking Futch", but rejected it due to the family nature of most campgrounds. If we get another boat, though, I think that will be the name...lol.
We usually name vehicles so why not a camper? Let's see - there was Myrtle the blue turtle (a bright blue Subaru coup), Rhonda Honda, Goldie Honda, a silver Subaru-Subie (very original), the gray Ford workvan called the Gray Ghost; a Cadillac DeVille named what else? Cruella of course!
We are off to St Louie tomorrow to check out Aliners - very excited! I plan to name it
"3 Cots in a Box" since we need 3 beds
If i name it i cant shoot it. Sometimes its 50/50 on if thats going to happen or not
We call her Lucy after Lucille Ball's Long, Long, Trailer.
Just named mine. PUTT STUFF (Pop Up Tent Trailer Stuff) lol
I alternate calling my PUP either the "portable palace" or the "collapsing castle".
Oh our NTU PUP has a name! We normally don't name vehicles/campers. Captain Janky. Named after the previous owner who did all sorts of redneck-style repairs. Why put the sewer hose in the rear bumper that was designed to hold it when you can strap a 2 foot long, 12 inch PCV pipe to the bumper??? You can bet that's gone!
Ours is the she shed. I usually ignore commercials but always laughed at the one by I think State Farm with Cheryl's she shed on fire in the back yard. So we jokingly have named it the she shed, though it will never be in the back yard. We have a HUGE dropoff.
We are 100% geek in our house. Since the pup is bigger on the inside, it's totally a Doctor Who theme. We started watching with new-Who and Tennant says "Allons-y!". Our pup is named Alonso (for the Doctor) Jim (after my grandpa who taught me to camp).
We have a Starcraft Starflyer. Since I've long since referred to my home as "Planet Georgia," I went with the model name. As I say in my .signature, is there really a better name than "Starflyer"? To Planet Georgia and beyond!
