Suggestion: have the admin/owners create a Facebook page and group for us younger PUPportal fans... there is one popup group there but it has something like 43 fans, far below how big it can get if there was a bigger name such as this website behind it.
Facebook (FB) has grown so big that even my parents and aunts and uncles who are the opposite of tech-savvy have profiles...

I don't know... I work in IT and don't have a profile... not everyone is in to Facebook... A fan page would be a good idea though.

I am a oldie to Carol and I could not imagine a day without checking in on my family and friends we love the blackberrys we have because we can add pics and videos while camping and on other outings so everyone can see the great time we are having.

Ditto. I am a super hard core techie and I think the entire notion of social networking is a rather sad replacement for real human interaction. The only thing worse than MySpace or Facebook types of communication is Twitter. My gosh.. I don't need a text message to know everytime my teenager has to sneeze. Of course, my opinion doesn't explain why I sit here day in and day out in the forums.. [:!]

gotta love it. I clicked the link and it took about 2 seconds to figure out what happened.

I also work in IT. I did get a facebook page. I don't post, but my 6 other brothers and sisters use it so I can see what is going on. My 2nd oldest brother had a DVT that resulted in a PE and I didn't know for about 3 days. His DW put the status out on facebook (prior to me getting it and friending her). Once I saw it I was understandably upset no one let me know. He is the 4th male in the family to have a DVT and second to throw a clot to the lungs.

Most have probably noticed I don't post here quite as much as I used to. That's because I'm on Facebook !! I've reconnected with a lot of old classmates and relatives through FB. However, I do agree that many people on there are a little loopy with reporting their every move on their status. I also would like to crucify the person who invented Farmville.

There is a lot of potential for disaster on Facebook. For instance, I got a link, supposedly forwarded from friends that had viruses. I became wary when the link read it was on "yuotube" and didn't even attempt to open it. I found out later that it was infected.

I'm on FB, but don't post too much stuff there. My kids are too young to be on FB, thank goodness. I don't think I could handle checking both camping places regularly! And, I'd rather be here, even if I'm just wishing the weather would warm up so all of us could go camping before August!

Steve, that was hysterical! I had to check to see if the link opened another window, though! [8D]

But, I'd join up if there was a FB group . . .

Gotta get back to my tour books so I can have a few trip ideas up my sleeve . . . [RTM]

Why not set up a twitter feed too...lol. I think that this forum is great just the way it is.
Agreed. We don't Facebook, and we don't allow our DD to have a Facebook page. None of my family members have it, so we've never seen the need. The biggest thing for me is that we don't need an excuse to spend more time on the computer. I do it too much as it is!

I like to keep up with family and close friends on FB, but I do agree with David about some people going overboard, reporting their every move on their status.

Our pop-up camping club uses it. Not bad at all. The Missouri State Parks division is on Facebook and post happenings going on in the parks. Also allows you to post questions or concerns you might have. It's a pretty cool tool to use to keep in touch with all our camping friends on a non-structured site. Don't have to worry about which category to post a question at. We still use our club site for planning trips and such.
