I have been a member since 2011 when I lived in the popup a couple months when I got a new job in Georgia. I had owned 3 popups since 1994 and loved them.

Because of my injured elbow, arthritis knee and my back is starting to go bad, I had to sell my Niagara and bought an Airstream.

I have joined Air Forum and they even caution everyone to buy an appropriate TV similar to popupportal here and said the same thing as a few of us had been saying. Always have an appropriate TV to tow a camper at GVRW, not dry weight. when you shop for a popup, always know the max tow weight that your TV can tow and always look at GVRW of the camper. Then you know you would tow safety. If the camper GVRW is too high for your TV, then you have an option to buy an appropriate TV or get a lighter camper. Get both of TV and camper weighted at weight scale for piece of mind.

There are like 3 small Airstream campers that Ford Explorers with factory installed tow package can safety tow. And 2 others are too close for comfort with only 500 lbs below the tow max weight. Without the factory tow package, my explorer would not be able to tow ANY of Airstream camper.

Wanted to drop of a word of advice on towing at appropriate weight limit for safety reasons.
Have fun with popups as I did for many years.

FYI I am profound deaf if you did not know that... a few people know this.

    Hal

Yes, you can always pop in and say hello. No need to leave.

Stick around. There are still many on the dark side here. Your knowledge will still be needed.
Show off your new rig :) . Would love to see it. My dad, who hates camping by the way, actually wants an Airstream some day. The tow vehicle is his limitation as you said.

Congrats on going dark. However your knowledge of PUPs is still welcome here so why leave. Quite a few of us have gone dark and are staying around. Good Luck with the AirStream and keep on camping

I went dark and stuck around because of the amazing kindness on this forum. I have learned so much and it’s still helping me with our travel trailer.

2017 Airstream M-16 Bambi only weight 3500 GVRW! My Explorer can tow this as easy as it could with my previous Niagara.

Nice unit. I went to the dark side last year, many of the same reasons. I had back surgery 2 years ago and while it took away the pain it has given me an unwanted gift... arthritis. I’m in my 40’s and could see this getting worse down the road but I love to camp so had to find something that was better on the back.

Happy camping and enjoy the airstream, I thinks they pretty darn cool.
