I was on a thread where a member was hesitant to mention that he carried a firearm while camping for fear of being censored.
Is this true?

It's sad. The national parks warn you not to camp alone and don't walk the trails by yourself. Even in groups, they want you to let someone know where you're going and for how long. Don't deviate from a marked well used trail because you might run into pot growers, meth cookers, etc. Not saying everyone should be armed, but discussing personal safety at camp should be an active topic.

I agree with you, Mike, but for the sake of peace here on the portal, I think we should honor the Steve's wishes. I like it here and I hate for things to go sideways when someone gets overly passionate and then everyone gets in a row.

When people can't control their emotions and discussions devolve into heated arguments and tempers/passions flare. I generally try not to get into politics and religion discussions myself. If I did I would probably find out I really didn't like any of my friends![LOL]

That was probably my post and as I stated later in that thread, there was NO need to say the word, "GUN," "FIREARM," etc., it was easily implied as proven by the following posts.

I did not mention it cause it causes too many heated posts from both sides of the debate. Refer to POST 11 from Sneezer, it sums it up quite well! However, I did not realize that it would become a topic all to itself.

And believe me when I say there is one of those things on my side whenever I leave the house and a REALLY BIG one when I'm hiking in bear country.[:D]

You also have to remember that there are members here from around the World, many of those Countries have very strick laws concerning firearms.. When those views are shared, things do go well.. So make it easy.. no guns, no god and no politics..

Didnt say I or others from around the World didnt like the thread.. We love some of the reasons, whys and stories.. I said if we, shall I say non- Americans (generalizing for simplicity) if we voice our opinions, comments and even questions, well we often get answers like yours... You proved my point much quicker then I expected..
