Aaron from central Illinois, just scored a 2000 Rockwood 2308 popup 2 days ago for free! Sat for 5 years so there is some rot on the front but nothing too crazy. It will definitely need some work on the roof sides in the near future but as far as I can tell there are no leaks inside. Never owned a camper but have been tent camping for years and ready to upgrade. Have a 7yr old son and a 3yr old daughter so those two and the wife are ready to camp! I'm pretty handy but I'll have questions for sure so thanks in advance for all the help!
Welcome from Northern Neck Virginia... I am originally from Bonnie, Illinois Jefferson County and did a lot of tent camping around the creeks there when I was a kid... Left for the Air Force in 59 and never really went back home except for family get-to-gathers... Looks like the Rend Lake down that way really has become a campers paradise... Have camped at Land between the lakes KY a few times... My OFF-ROAD POPUP camper got a good workout between 2008 and 2014 here in VA and up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway and just now starting to get back in the RV Camping groove again. Never got the urge to do any RV Traveling - just like to camp back off trail somewhere and watch the fish jump in the creek hehe... Like the idea of camping off my own batteries... Roy Ken
Thanks for the welcomes!! I'll be posting more soon as one side of my popup collapsed yesterday and the lift springs busted through the rotted sides smh. I have no money in it yet so I'm thinking replacing the springs and replacing the wood on the sides I should be good to go. I really don't want to call it and junk it just yet as I think it has a ton of potential. Can't figure out how to post pics but hopefully I can figure it out.
