After 15years of tent camping the wife and me finally decided to move onto a camper. Found a 2000 Jayco Qwest In November and got to work on re working it. We had our first trip in it Easter weekend at Shenandoah River state park and thoroughly enjoyed the camper. Still a few things I want to do on it like replace the leafsprings before the memorial day trip, anyone have suggestions on a good source for springs. Hoping I can find something USA made. Camper specs are as follows:

    Re built the front wall
re built door and installed new gaskets
Exterior panels repainted- sides and roof white, front and back black
All trim removed, sanded and coated in rustoleum Truck bed liner (Love the way it turned out)
All new butyl tape where needed and geoflex/dicor caulking
new trim tape to match the black trim
all new exterior hatch ports and water outlets
All exterior lights replaced with LED units except for porch light
    added front light near battery
    new flooring
    painted interior cabinets
re did counters with cabinet grade plywood and new laminate
    Rebuilt the sink box camper2.jpeg camper3.jpeg camper.jpeg camper4.jpeg
Wife re upholstered the cushions and made pillows
    new dexter hubs and bearings
    new wheels and tires

Probably forgetting somethings, once I was into it I started improving on things while it was apart. Pretty fun working on this thing. Will probably replace the canvas and should be able to enjoy for a while.

Welcome to the Portal from N/W Fl Panhandle. Looks like you have done great job on the restoration of your Jaco PUP. You are correct, a lot of the fun in the restoration is the mods to "make it your own" it will probably be better than new when you get through. Hoping ya'll have many great adventures with your Jayco in the future. Good Luck and Happy Camping

Welcome, looks like you've done a lot of work and a nice job.
What we've found with all of our campers is that we tweak things once we're actually using them. We have done less with each one as time has gone on, but there is usually something to improve, and/or repair.

Love this because we have also been tent campers for a very long time (we're from Southern California) and we just got a '99 Qwest 10. Just replaced the tent yesterday and loving it!

Welcome to the Portal. Looks like your doing a great job on refurbishing your pup. While you have the springs off you may want to consider doing an over/ under swap. Change the axel to under the springs instead of above. Gives you a little more clearance and also allows you to put bigger tires on the Pup. larger tires = cooler tire temps, more stability etc...

I just ordered new tenting myself last week also! My canvas wasn't to bad, but while I was looking into it I found out that it was still available through Jayco and cost was $360 so I went ahead with it. Not sure what color it will be, what was yours?

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone, memorial day weekend cannot come fast enough! That's the next trip with the camper!

How did you get it so cheap? Were you able to contact Jayco directly? That's like $100 less than what I paid. Score! It is white/cream and tan. No green (which I kind of like) and it looks much cleaner. Will post photo soon!

I went through a parts dealer for Jayco, Wise trailer sales. Smaller company and very nice.

I'm glad there isn't any green, it will go better with my scheme. Looking forward to the photo, any tips or tricks you encountered while installing?
