We will be camping at Bahia Honda State Park for a week starting April 29. We will be at Buttonwood #6 if anyone is going to be in the area.<img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Did you enjoy this campground? I noticed that you have to book WAY in advance on this one.

Yes, it was a great week. We who live in Florida understand 'tourist season'. It does not mean we're allowed to hunt tourists (although the thought occurs)! From Thanksgiving until Easter, the state fills up with visitors (1-2 weeks each) and snowbirds (1-6 months each). There is even a summer season, when parents with children come to visit. There are a few months that we permanent residents get to do stuff, like camping. That's when we plan the long trips.
Some of the really good sites, such as Bahia Honda and Ft. Desoto Park will require reservations almost one year in advance during the tourist season. A lot of the other State Parks are not quite so booked up, but stay away from the holidays, and non-weekends are even better.
We hope you get a chance to visit, but you will have to plan well ahead.

Paul, you are lucky to be in a warm climate! I got to understand the tourist season last Thanksgiving week when we were touristing in FL.

The weather in Illinois is the low 30's today and may hit the mid teens at night for the next several days. Makes me wonder why we live in such a place!

I will say this, we've been camping a couple outings in State Parks and the CG's don't have the full problem at this time of yr.

My wife would love Bahia Honda. Actually, I seriously wanted to say 'thanks' for all the great topics you post and advice you've given us newbies to PU. This last yr with ours was great fun for the whole family.
