decided since we were on vacation near here, we would check it out, see whats what, and do little hiking/swimming at the "natural Spring" 1st off, the caverns is a nice hike and interesting as a walk through history. however, it was not worth the $$$ imho.... the cg sites were all on top of each other and there was virtually no privacy, plus the park rangers were constantly Helping to monitor the fires. (ie turning your fires over, shuffling the fire wood etc etc. for you) the dump station was disgusting and waste deposits were all over the ground last but not least the natural spring designated for swimming, was just that... ALL NATURAL ! large turtles, alligators and tons of fish. it was filthy, overgrown with pond weeds, and had no egress in or out that was safe. plus there was a large oily film through out the pond. I have visited several FL natural springs and never saw anything like this. Wekiva Springs is the absolute epitomy of what a spring should be. including a complete underwater fence. I will never return to the florida caverns spring. I am not one to force my humble opinions on anyone, so be the judge for yourself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Working hard so I can play harder. n2u '87 Coleman Newport '03 SEDONA (TV) Popping the PuP cherry this summer!
