We are looking at this park for the 4th of July. Anyone been there? We love to camp at the State parks as there is usually plenty of nature and lots to do. It appears that is near some beaches. Please share your experience with this park, Thanks!

Logging back in after a long break-it is nice to see the portal still up with lots of topics...

***** :) Went to this park for July 4th in 2008 and LOVED it! Great base camp for the beaches. I don't think we got the canoe out once because we spent so much time at the beaches, the kids loved it and were sleeping by 7pm each night-we loved that! Would highly recommend this park for camping ****

Old thread, but wanted to report recently camping here.

We loved it and spent a lot of time in the lake swimming.

Did some canoeing and some bike riding. Kids had a great time.

They have some hiking trails, but it was just too hot to do that. They also have a bike trail that runs 10 miles (5 North and 5 South from the park)

Park has fire wood for sale ($5 for 10 pieces) but it is mostly pine.

They also have ice for sale.($2 bags)The sites on the river side were way under water when we had some heavy rain. In fact sites 30 and 31 looked to be the highest and driest sites with concrete pull ins. We were in sites 9 and 10 (all dirt) and were caught in a heavy rain and our sites were 1-3" deep but when the rain stopped it dried out pretty quick.

All and all we really liked the park. The museum was nice and so was the lake.

Wildlife we saw: snakes, birds (lots of cool birds), opossum, armadillos, raccoons and some rats...lol

We've stayed there a few times and were pleasantly surprised to find that they installed free wi-fi at the museum by the lake. It wasn't anything fast, but it did allow my wife to check the bank statement and pay a bill she had forgotten.

Glad to hear the good reviews. We have reservations for next February. We were at the Koreshan State Historical Site last February and it was great.
