I contacted my dealer to see about getting the Fleetwood Double CrossBar Kit installed.....

Not too bad of a price for the kit...$135
Install would be $210...a little high I thought.

I questioned them about the install and waranty on the roof of my pup...they told me that I would have to contact FleetWood...they werent sure.

Called FleetWood...asked them if it would void the warranty if I did the install..they said, well..if it leaks you would be responsible.....I asked what if the dealer did the install...he said it would be their responsibility...not fleetwood.

Called the dealer back....they would only honor fleetwood warranties....and would not replace the roof if it leaked and caused problems.....

This situation is not covered by Fleetwood and is a dealer dependent issue.

Just wanted to let you know!

Guess Im off to pick up a double cross bar kit....and will be installing soon!

The double cross bar kit mounts into a built in rail system on the outer edge aluminum trim piece. We have them on our Fleetwood. It WILL NOT void any warranty, because it was designed to be installed on the roof...you can do it yourself, with only an allen wrench. So easy a five year old kid could do it. My dealer tossed in a set for free with installation to make the sell....I'm a hard buyer, I got a screen room for free along with alot of other things.

    JJ,

It depends on the year of his fleetwood.
My old 99 Niagara had to drill holes in the roof and mount the crossbar kit. I had the dealer do it, so he would be responsible for any leak issues..

I have a 2007 RIO. No channel down each side.

Mine will have to be mounted by drilling holes through the roof. My dealer says they will warranty the install (coming off driving down the road and such), but they will not cover the roof in case of leaks.

    Chris,

Keep an eye on it. You'll need to check and retighten, but not overtighten at least yearly, if you carry bikes frequently.

Every couple of years or as needed, recaulk. Needs a little more attention, but I kept mine leak free for eight years before I traded it.
