Good day everyone! Well, the 2015 Florida Fall Rally is now over, time to start thinking about Spring 2016! I am thinking March sometime. Preferably around spring break.

Easter Sunday is the March 27th. My kid's Spring break is the week before Easter (March 21-25). I know Florida Counties have different weeks. It would be nice to figure out when spring break is for others who would like to attend the Rally and see if we can find a weekend that would best fit everyone interested. Maybe some will have the week before the Rally off while others have the week after the rally off.

So, if you're a family with school age kids and you're interested in attending the spring rally, you can post when your spring break is.

Also we need some suggestions as to where to have it. So lets get this conversation started!

Our kids are off March 12-21. (I'm including the weekends.)

We will be camping at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park March 13-18.

We found a real nice private CG just south of the Sunshine Skyway bridge. Called frog creek. We camped there and when I talked to the manager about a rally she told me we could get a special rate and they have a huge in door dinning hall we can use at no additional charge. The only real down fall about the place was it only had one bath house (rest room). But a lot of the campers there are long term and do not use the bath house. They have a dog park and play ground and a river to boat in. The pop up area is very woody. They have an outside tiki bar area we can grill on and did I mention a large tiki bar??? [8D]

It was nice...

We have spring break from the 19th - 27th

(of course I do not know if this location works well for everyone....)

Just out of curiosity, do you remember the rate for Rally attendees? I see the normal rate is $55 for March for 2 people PLUS $5 for each extra person. That could get expensive really fast; especially for people with kids/teens.

If it's "Aluminum", why not "Sodum" and "Uranum"?

A suggestion roughly the same area... Myakka State Park?
Not quite sure how much space they have, but I can find out if anyone's interested....... ?

Is there any news om the proposed rally?
We enjoyed our first (Thank you Kim), and we'd be keen to attend another in the area...

No, no news. The thread doesn't seem to be getting a lot of traffic or something. I try to check it every couple days or so for postings.

So far I see Highlands Hammock, Frog Creek, Myakka SP, and St. Joseph Penisula (March 13-18 for St. Joseph) suggested.

Me personally, I don't think we could afford Frog Creek. It would be at least $60/night or more for us. I know many Portal Members do not like to spend that much a night. They also do have an age restriction on RV's (I do not know if this also pertains to Pups & TT/HTT). It looks like a REALLY nice place to go, but is not in the cards for this camper. Their Rally Rates might be different though.

I feel we should shoot for the weekend of March 18-20th. It looks like most Spring breaks will either be ending or starting that weekend. Hopefully we won't be in the middle of moving that month- lol

Hi Kim,

I wasn't suggesting St. Joseph Peninsula -- I was just commenting on when we'll be. It books up quickly after March 1st.

Thanks for keeping track of things.

Myakka River is kinda hard to get into also. It books up really far in advance. But it is a really nice park.

I just checked and Myakka has 0 sites available that weekend.

Highlands Hammock has 31 RV/Tent sites and 19 Tent only sites that weekend.

Well, I've been looking to see what parks have availability for that weekend and it looks like most other parks are completely booked that weekend :/ I guess since it is the beginning/end of Spring Break they are all booked up. Figures right? [:!]

Any who, I cannot book anything as of right now. I don't have the funds to do so. So we may end up shooting for a weekend in April if no sites are available at the time I can book. OR someone else, who can book, can take over as WM, that is IF you all would like to do Highlands Hammock March 18-20.

What say you all?

If Highlands Hammock has that many spaces, I say go for it. It's only 2-1/2 hours away for me, so that's closer than the last two! They have a building we could reserve for the pot luck, a wilderness area for those that like to dry camp, and some nice trails. I really like the park.

We are already booked for Lake Kissimmee for most of that week. Looks like we will have to miss this one.

Sorry I haven't posted any updates. Got to love the holidays! Anyways, as of right now I personally do not have the funds to book a site anywhere. So, if anyone wants to jump in and organize a Rally, have at it! If not, then once I have the funds to reserve, we can see what is available when and where? If ya'll do that we may be looking at more of a Summer Rally than a Spring one. It is all up to you all!

For now we're out.
We have too much going on this spring. But really want to see plans come together for a Spring rally.
