I do the fly fishing thing, tie my own flies and have built most of my rods.

I just got back from Montana, where I fly fished for a week. It was the best fishing trip I have ever experienced. The Big Hole Valley is one of a kind for trout fishing. I'm taking my newly purchased PUP for its maiden voyage this weekend. Hopeing to wet a line while camping. Smallmouths on the Rapidan River, Va.

Troutking... you mentioned fishing on the Ausable river here in Michigan. Did you ever go? I am planning on going to the Huron/Manistee NF to fly fish on the Ausable soon, and would love to hear how it went... also if you have any tips for pup camping in that area! Thanks!

I can tie twice as many flies when camping as at home. If it rains, the vice will be on the dinette table. I tie while my daughter sleeps but will soon be tying at the picnic table in the evening. Great time to catch up on tying.

I like to fly fish the white river in northwest Colorado. The native cut throat are awesome fighters! Also enjoy the blue along the ten mile range, and parts of the Eagle. Fishing is one of my favorite passtimes. I'm not good enough to tie my own flies though!

I love to go fly fishing, nothing like a fresh caught brookie for dinner! In northern NH/western Maine they put some radio transmitters in some of the trout to track their movements. I've seen wildlife guys travel the river in a boat with the antenna trying to find them. This guy isn't one of them, nor have I ever caught one.

This is a favorite camp/fishing site along side the Santeetlah Creek in the Nantahala National Forest in western North Carolina. A couple of miles downstream from this spot the creek opens into the Santeetlah Lake. Kinda the best of two worlds of fly fishing ... wading the creek here or load up the canoe and fish the mouth of the creek down at the lake.

My husband lives to Fly Fish, he can tie all his own flies and leaders. He got hooked about 3 years ago and if I plan a camping trip I have to check to see how far away are we from the trout. He also practices catch and release. He loved the White River in Arkansas! We hope to make it up to Northwestern Colorado next year.

One of the requirements when we go puping is close location to a stream or river.

DW reads and I fly fish.

Been fly fishing about 4 years and started tying about a year ago.

Photo: Moi' fishing Eleven Mile Canyon, South Platte River, Colorado. Caught a lovely Rainbow shortly after this photo taken.

Photo of Rainbow trout mentioned above! The 'opacity' in center of photo was a water-drop, delivered by said trout.

Love fly fishing! That's the main reason I bought my popup... to camp near the most fabulous fishing in the world! (my opinion, of course!) LOVE Colorado!

The South Platte River is one of my fav's, as is the Taylor River, in Gunnison National Forest. In that same area is Willow Creek (in Taylor Park.) Also love the Conejos River, near the New Mexico border.

Eleven Mile Canyon, South Platte River is about 30 minutes or less from where I live! WOO HOO! :) How fortunate I am, huh?

If anyone in or near Colorado would like to do a FLY-FISHING RALLY next spring, well then we needs to talk about it! *smile*

    Kim,
We would love to meet up sometime maybe next summer to fly fish and just regular fishing. Dh, DD and I both love it. We are in the Phoenix area, have property in northwest AZ so we can make that a stop to meet up in CO. We love CO. We will have to see the driving distance and what is nearby. DH and DD want to see the Durango area, I have been several times. We will have to keep in contact.

Our son would love this topic!!!

He just got into fly fishing about a year ago and started tying his own flys this year. He would love to go on a camping trip where he could fly fish. Me on the other hand, I have no patients for it. I prefer to sit on the shore of a lake and fish that way. We also like to surf fish as well.

HMMmmm! might have to plan a local trip to go fishing with my son! I dought the DW would want to go!

Now I just need to learn how to clean / prep a fish for dinner! Never had to do it since we mostly catch and release!

    Hi Mary Romeo!

I just posted a 'thing' about a rally next June or July. Check it out!

But even if the rally doesn't happen, would LOVE to hook up with you and your family for some Colorado Fly Fishing! Tom is hugely into fly fishing, as well. Nice guy, good man, great camping/fishing pal!

    Hiya's SilverMickey!

I have family in NJ (Lake Hapitcong---did I spell it right?), and I grew up in Cape May *cough-cough, mumble-mumble* years ago. heheh

I just made a post about a Colorado rally next June or July. Give it a read, and if interested, then you can fish in a high mountain lake, pond, Taylor Reservior while your son fly-fishes any number of ponds, lakes, streams, creeks, and rivers! (Well... the Taylor River.)

    See ya's!

Hey thanks, but we will be be heading out to Wyoming and Montana in early August to stay at Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks for two weeks. So will have to force myself and son to fish out there! [LOL]

We do plan on going to Tennessee for Easter break though, hopefully some good fishing down there!

We have some good friends that live in Lake Hopatcong (the correct spelling, hahaha)! Been to Cape May many, many times over the years and it's really nice down there!

    Thanks for the invite though!!
