We just got back from a 5 day stay at Fort Desoto Park. What an awesome place. Well worth the wait. We had to reserve a waterfront site 6 months ago. We stayed in the section that allowed pets. The park is very well maintained and the staff is friendly. Tons of fishing and kayaking and beach activities. We can't wait to go back!

We use to go there all the time during spring break. We like the place.

Beautiful campsite. We may be heading to Fort Desoto next spring if we can get a site.

This park looks beautiful. Is alcohol prohibited at the park?

Fun trip for sure... We gotta make it over there one day to see what all the hoopla is about... [;)]

Rules and regs pretty much state alcohol prohibited at most CG's and all FL state parks. It is tolerated when not being flaunted but it is their easy way to boot individuals whom may get a little too rambunctious... [CB] [CB] [CB]

Yes...no one will say anything to you unless you are loud during quiet hours.

Excited for our first ever camping trip there next month. Glad to hear about all the good experiences. I'm pretty nervous to take our PUP out for the first time.

Great place to break in a new pup. My wife and I are headed back in September for our anniversary. We can't wait.

Ft. Desoto is our favorite go to camping spot for a weekend getaway. We live a half hour away and feel like we are hours away when we go there. We stay in the no pet area and get a water spot. We love it!!!! :)

This is a beautiful place to camp. Tents and pups get the best views too. Spent 7 days there in July. Weather was perfect, not to hot and the rains missed us.

That may be so, but it's not as though the rangers will come into your site looking for it. You are fine to enjoy a beer or three discreetly at the camp site, or at the beach, on on the kayak... This has been my experience with one camping trip, and a couple of full day kayaking/beach trips.
I doubt that the "ban" is enforced unless folks are abusing alcohol or being very conspicuous.

Gonna have to check this place out - Beautiful site... Have a sister buried just North of Tampa and go down that way every now and then...
