We stay here In July of 2014 twice and once so far in 2015. Fransted Campground is in Franconia, NH, just north of Franconia Notch State Park. 974 Profile rd Franconia, NH 03580 603-823-5675 www.franstedcampground.com open 5/1 to columbus day. They have 96 sites, half of which have hooks ups from E/W, E/W/C, E/W/C/S. the other sites are tenting. The sites range from gassy to wooded, and water/river front sites. We always choose a wooded site. the sites are generally pretty spacious for the hook up sites. Most sites have room for the awning, truck and probably two canopies/screen houses. All sites have a picnic table and stone fire ring. The river sites can be too small for a Pop up, but are great for tenting. They have a large field with small soccer nets, playground, basket ball court, mini golf for 4$. a large pavilion for crafts and games, they have ping pong, foosball. no pool The stream is great for tubing, so bring the tubes for the kids. There is a sand beach area where you can sit and watch the kids at the end of the tubing run. They generally have weekend activities planned including candy bar bingo, wagon rides and ice cream social. The store is stocked fairly well for the essentials. Ice is 1.75 for a 5# bag, 2.25 for a 5# block. Wood is 6 dollars a bundle. they have propane as well, I didnt need it, so i am not sure the price. The bathrooms are always clean, never out of TP or over flowing with trash. They built a new main shower house this year with 4 new showers one of which is a family shower. The showers are free, clean and hot. The staff is friendly and helpful and readily available if you have a question. They will guide you to your site as needed. Two of the weekends we have been there were halloween themed, which was great for the kids. The rules are posted and Enforced as needed. Which is great for those who enjoy a family camping experience. If you are looking to party, this will not be to your liking. This campground is in Bear Country and they do have them, there were two that were around this year, We didn't see them. Put food and coolers in the car/truck. They are just north of Franconia notch state park, about an hour to Mt Washington, 40 minutes to Bretton woods, and an hour to North Conway. We have been here off and on over the past 15 years, we started with a tent and loved it on the river and we are going back again this year and next.
